1 Year!

A year ago on 2 August 2008, James and I got married! It's hard to believe that it's been a whole year since we got married. Time flies. Some things I remember about our wedding:(1) while waiting in the clerks office, James forgot the ring in the car, and then while we are waiting in the celestial room, James again forgot the ring and had to run and get it! (2) When we were taking pictures outside, it was really warm. (3)While outside taking pictures, there was Hispanic wedding party there, they weren't LDS, but they had a videographer and they had everyone dancing in like a big ol' conga line around the temple and up on the terrace. It was a great day, good food, cake and great memories!

So for our anniversary, we talked about doing a lot of different things but we finally decided to go to Park City for the weekend. We found a bed & breakfast called the Washington School Inn just off of Main Street. It was an old school house that was converted. We stayed in Ms. Neilson's room. It was quaint and cozy. We enjoyed it. We absolutely loved the location. We were one road up from Main Street. There was a set of stairs that led right down to Main Street. It was perfect.



For dinner we chose to eat at the Mustang Restaurant. It was a bit trendy but really nice. James had chipotle BBQ baby back ribs and I had a steak that had olive oil drizzled on it with fresh garlic. We loved our food.

After dinner we chose to ride the ski lift. The ride was nice. We were riding just as the sun was starting to set. How romantic... As we rode it was cool because you could see all of Park City and it was Park City's Arts Festival, so there was a band playing on a plaza on Main Street, and we could hear the music as we were on the lift.



When we got off the lift we wanted to find some sort of dessert. The Arts Festival was all along Main Street with all these booths with various types of art. There were a lot of people out even in the evening. We checked out some of the booths and wandered Main Street. We eventually found a little store that sold ice cream. We each had some ice cream and wandered around a bit more. It was getting late so we headed back to our room. We watched "Top Gun", James had never seen it, and of course "Say Yes to the Dress". James said I could watch it because we don't have cable at home. Thanks Honey!



The next morning we went down for breakfast. The chef had made gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs, homemade granola, homemade yogurt (don't know how), there was fruit, cereal and some juice. The breakfast was good.

After breakfast we wandered around the Arts Festival some more. It's interesting to see what's out there. Some stuff was nice and some of it was a little different. We walked the whole length of the festival and found a statue to buy to remember our trip there.

On Sunday, our actual anniversary, we had defrosted the top of our wedding cake, and cut into it! It was so good! I had always loved our wedding cake: a chocolate and white marble cake with a chocolate gnache in the middle with butter cream icing. Yum. We also had a white sheet cake with a raspberry filling with butter cream icing at the reception. Anyway...we cut it and ate it and ate it and ate it. We had it for breakfast, snacks and everything else. We finally had to throw it out, unfortunately, because we were filling ourselves with cake and not much else.





Over all it was a fantastic way to celebrate our first wedding anniversary! We are excited for the many years to come and what the future will hold like grad school, jobs, children (not now, in the far future), new locations and friends.
